The Orion One wallet is the brainchild of Design Dynamic, and has a unique feature that sets it apart from the crowd. Instead of a hinge or band to hold it together, thew Orion One utilises rather futuristic looking mechanical linkage arms. You might say its success hinges on this design... okay, we're not proud of that gag, let's all just move on. The Orion One wallet is designed and manufactured in the USA, and has proved pretty popular on Kickstarter.
This wallet is similar in some aspects to other wallet designs, in that it utilises a two plate system where cards are held in place between a back and a front plate, which hold the cards securely and protect them from damage, whilst also allowing easy access to each card. The difference with the Orion One though, is that unlike any other wallet, it has unique Machanical linkage arms, made from either Aluminium or Titanium. This ensures the cards are held tightly, however many there are, but also means it separates in a satisfyingly smooth futuristic style which you simply don't get with traditional hinges or elastic bands.
The Orion One is Precision CNC machined from single, solid blocks of high grade aluminium. In fact, to be precise it is made from solid billets of USA 6061-T6 aircraft grade aluminum - in layman's terms, that means it's pretty solid stuff. Not only is it solid, this aluminium is also light, meaning the wallet weighs under 100 grams (3.45 ounces).
The design of the Orion One wallet matches its futuristic linkage arms, combining smooth curves with bold shapes, it has a satisfying aesthetic that is not too busy, but gives it a modern edge that makes it stand out. It is available in four colours: Anodized Black, OD Green, Red or Polished Aluminum finish.
The wallet can hold between 1-8 cards, as well as cash which can be stored in the integrated money clip on the back of the wallet. This money clip can hold between 1-10 notes. Because of the Aluminum material it is made out of, it will also block any RFID signals, keeping cards safe from RFID skimming.
