Top Tips To Protect Your Cards

We’ve all heard the risks and damages that can occur when someone obtains your personal information, such as your credit card data. Identify theft is more common than you would think, not only in the UK but also around the world. You may already be a victim of it, or perhaps just looking for ways to protect your cards. Here are our top tips to help you stay safe.

Tip 1: Cancel lost or stolen credit or debit card

Always cancel these cards immediately. Don’t wait to see if they might turn up, the damage could already be done. Plus, make a note of the emergency numbers you should call and keep them in a safe place (they are often printed on the back of your cards).

Tip 2: Lock your phone

We’re all guilty of using our smartphones far too much for banking and online shopping. Always ensure that you have a pin to lock it and access your banking apps and websites with secure pin codes that are different.

Tip 3: Check your browser

If you’re shopping online and entering card details to make a purchase, always check that the web address begins with https. The ‘s’ means the website is secure.
