When you think of Sweden, a few things might spring to mind: Ikea - the shop that seamlessly combines meatballs and flat-pack furniture, Abba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and that chef from the muppets. Now, Swedish designer Tomas Eriksson is adding the most comprehensive wallet kickstarter we've seen in a long time to that admirable list. His sleek range of Italian leather front pocket wallets, named Axess, look the business, and there is a huge variety on offer.
In many Kickstarter campaigns, choice is often limited, as it is generally a push to get one product, with maybe a couple of variants, to market. Tomas however, is launching a whole product range, which has been well thought out and beautifully designed. The main concept of the Axess range is to be a slim wallet that provides all the functions of a traditional bi-fold, whilst providing clever RFID blocking features to keep your card details protected. Each is a genuine, Italian leather front pocket wallet that delivers on style and functionality.
The Axess wallet range consists of 6 varieties, all made from fine Italian leather, with the option of a traditional or Saffiano finish to it. For those who aren't familiar with Saffiano leather, it is a type of textured leather which is scratch resistant and very robust. I'm personally a big fan of it as it can be very slim and still be extremely durable, and in my opinion adds a modern style. It won't be to everyone's liking though, so don't worry, there are also traditional leather designs available.
Every variety comes in a choice of three colours: Black, Caramel and Blue, each with matching stitching to create a wallet that seems to blend traditional style with modern features and practicality seamlessly. All in all, there are 18 different options in all to choose from in the Axess range, meaning the biggest downside to this wallet is probably the difficulty in deciding which one to go for!
Each of the 6 models comes with an RFID blocking pocket. This means that any cards placed within those pockets will be unreadable by RFID technology, keeping your personal card details safe from theft. However, if you have an RFID card you want to be able to use without removing it from the wallet, you can still have this luxury by simply placing it in one of the non RFID blocking pockets. Being able to have your credit cards protected whilst still having the convenience of using a transport or work pass card inside the wallet will appeal to many.
Cash is dealt with in a slightly different way by each of the models, but in each notes need to be folded just once, and slipped into the appropriate pocket, or strap in some cases. The card capacity also varies slightly between designs, but each can hold at least 6 cards, and more in many of the varieties.
Full details on each of the models is available on the Axess Leather Wallet Kickstarter page, where you can also pledge towards one. You can also check out the video below to see Axess wallets in action.
