The Hub Wallet

The Hub Wallet Preview

In the pursuit of the 'ultimate' slim wallet, many designs and trends seem to ebb and flow. One thing that seems to have fallen out of focus a little is the bi-fold wallet. The classic sort of wallet design that seems to hark back to a slightly simpler time. It seems to have been disregarded as not being able to be thin enough, but The Hub Wallet, designed in Boston and made in the USA, is making us question everything we thought we knew about the bi-fold.

About The Hub Wallet

The Hub is designed to be both slim and easy to use. There are 4 card slots, all positioned on the outside of the wallet (2 on each side) meaning access to cards is quick and simple. This provides room for up to 12 cards (more if you really want to squish, but trust us, you don't need to). The promise is that these pockets will be tight enough to hold cards, but loose enough to allow easy, one handed access. This sweet spot is something that wallets get wrong all too often, so if they've got this right, we look forward to getting our hands (well, hand) on it.

Hub Wallet leather bifold cash slot

The way it deals with cash is where the bi-fold element of the Hub Wallet really comes into it's own. The cash pocket is accessed by a slot in the top of the wallet, which once unfolded is very easily accessed. This looks very well designed, as too often have we found ourselves trying to wedge in, or pry out cash from difficult pockets in similar types of slim leather wallets.

Hub Wallet slim profile

The fact that all of this has been packed into a profile measuring just 72 x 104 x 8 is pretty impressive. It seems to us like a lot of time and thought has gone into making sure this is as slim as possible, whilst still being a practical bi-fold design, and if it turns out to be as good as it looks, we tip our hat to them.

The wallet is available in chestnut brown, which looks very elegant, although I can't help feeling it would be nice if there were a few other colour options available.

The bottom line with The Hub Wallet is that it isn't going to be the slimmest wallet you can find, however, if you're looking for a good old fashioned, bi-fold made of top quality leather that isn't going to bulk out your pocket, the Hub looks like an excellent option.

The Hub on Kickstarter

The Hub wallet is currently seeking funding on Kickstarter, and at the time of writing has just reached double the funding target, with over 3 weeks still to go. To find out more or to pledge, visit The Hub Wallet Kickstarter page, or watch the video below.
